Welcome to Harry’s Bar, Paris. Born on November 26, 1911 (Thanksgiving Day), this iconic American bar was dismantled from Manhattan’s 7th Avenue and rebuilt on rue Daunou. More than a mahogany bar, it’s the birthplace of the cocktail. Toad Sloan, an American jockey, brought it to Paris, and bartender Harry MacElhone made it legendary.
A Legacy of Innovation
The Bar crafted classics like the Bloody Mary, Sidecar, and White Lady. We continue to invent, blending tradition with global flair. Descend to our intimate piano bar, where jazz legends like Tommy Lyman and George Gershwin played. Yes—the same piano inspired Gershwin’s "An American in Paris" (scribbled on paper towels, tragically lost in the war).
A Timeless Atmosphere
From 1933’s "Front Page Cabaret" to Shem’s caricatures of pre-war Paris, every detail echoes history. Join us for cocktails, music, and a touch of magic. Booking recommended.
